Greetings All,
Now that we've talked about our partnership with Eating with Permission let's introduce you to the women behind this. I had Ashley write an introduction so that we can all get to know her a little better! Ashley (& Natalie, but we'll get to know her later!) work together to provide counseling services and they're written some interesting pieces that I look forward to sharing with you in the coming weeks.
Ashley Barnes MS, RDN, LDN
Hello! I am so very excited to be a part of the Brown Family Farm Newsletter this year.
My family have been Brown Family Farm CSA members for the past 2 years and continue to enjoy our produce boxes this year! I am looking forward to apples, honey and pork again as well! You will be seeing some posts from me and a college of mine, Natalie H, throughout the CSA newsletters this year. Natalie is owner and operator of EatwithPermission, a nutrition counseling business for whom I have been doing consulting work for the past couple of years. Natalie and I met 15 years (or so) ago working together as RD’s in a hospital setting. We got reconnected when we were both enrolled in the Ellyn Satter Affiliate Program in 2020. We are both invested in promoting the models as a way for adults and children to improve their relationship to food and eating.
If you are wondering how I got here…
I am a Wisconsin native who relocated to Minneapolis, MN in 2014. I completed my my undergraduate degree in dietetics at the University of Wisconsin Madison (RDN,LDN) and my master’s degree (MS) in dietetics with an emphasis in counseling at Mount Mary University in Wauwatosa, WI. I have been provided nutritional counseling for clients struggling with eating disorders for the past 15 years in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. I am a 2021 Ellyn Satter Institute (ESI) Affiliate graduate and completed the ESI Feeding with Love and Good Sense program.
I have been married to my husband for 14 years and we have 3 children ages 11, 9 and 4.
***Here is their website so you can browse through their info if you're curious! We'll have her first blog post to share with you next week!!
